Aden Davis (b. abt 1846) served as an under cook in Company C, 13th Tennessee Volunteer Cavalry. He is one of twenty-three black men known to have served with the regiment, all of whom served as company cooks.
Davis was born in Barren County, Kentucky.
Civil War service
Aden Davis enlisted in Company C on June 1, 1864 in Gallatin, Tennessee for a period of three years. He mustered in on July 26, 1864 in Nashville.
At enlistment he was 18 years old, 5' 5" tall, black complexion, black eyes, and black hair.
According to the muster rolls Davis "Deserted Sept. 15th 1864 at Bulls Gap, Tenn. No discharge furnished."
No further information about Davis or the location of his grave has been found.
