Andrew T. Stout (July 13, 1823 - September 18, 1902) served as a private in Company G, 13th Tennessee Volunteer Cavalry.
Personal life[]
Andrew Stout was born July 13, 1823 in Burke County, North Carolina.[1] He married first Susannah Wilson (1823-1857) with whom he had at least four children.[2] One son from this marriage is Irvin Stout of Company F, who died in the service. He married second Lourana Osborne (1829-1899) with whom he had at least five children.[3] He married third Delila Bacon (1873-1927) with whom he had no children.
Civil War service[]
Stout enlisted as a private in Company G on November 1, 1864 in Elizabethton, Tennessee for a period of three years and mustered in September 1, 1865 at Knoxville, Tennessee.
He is described as 41 years old, 5' 10" tall, fair complexion, blue eyes, dark hair, and by occupation a farmer.
Stout is listed as present until April 1, 1865 when he was left sick in hospital at Knoxville; when he returned to the regiment is not recorded. All but one of his muster roll records are missing.
Stout mustered out with the regiment on September 5, 1865 at Knoxville. He had never been paid, owed $10.15 to the government for clothing in kind or money advanced, and was owed a $100 bounty.
Post-war life[]
Stout applied for an invalid's pension on April 15, 1881. He died September 18, 1902 in Washington County, Tennessee and is buried at Marvin's Chapel Cemetery in Johnson City, Tennessee. His wife applied for a widow's pension on September 24, 1902.
