David Caraway (abt 1847 - June 6, 1865) served as a private in Company C, 13th Tennessee Volunteer Cavalry.[1]

David Caraway was born about 1847 in Carter County, Tennessee to James and Emeline Caraway.
Civil War service[]
Caraway enlisted in Company C on December 10, 1864 in Knoxville, Tennessee for a period of three years. He mustered in March 3, 1865 at Knoxville.
According to the company muster roll, Caraway died at Brownlow Hospital in Knoxville due to chronic diarrhea and pneumonia.
In the report for his death, it is stated that he was 18 years old, 5' 6" tall, fair complexion, blue eyes, light hair, and was a farmer.
At the time of his death he had been issued clothing worth $51.25 and had received no pay from the date of his enlistment. His personal effects consisted of one hat, one pair boots, and 45 cents.
Caraway's mother applied for a pension on October 15, 1869. His father applied for a pension on April 17, 1884.[2]
