Drewry Borders (abt 1823 - February 15, 1864) served as private in Company C, 13th Tennessee Volunteer Cavalry.

Personal life[]

Drewry Borders was born about 1823 in Wilkes County, North Carolina. He married Eleanor "Nellie" Bonton on January 2, 1853 in Caldwell County, North Carolina.

Civil War service[]

Borders enlisted in Company C on September 24, 1863 in Carter County, Tennessee for a period of three years. He mustered in November 2, 1863 at Knoxville, Tennessee.

At enlistment Borders was described as 40 years old, 6', dark complexion, blue eyes, black hair, and by occupation a farmer.

Borders died February 15, 1864 in Columbia, Kentucky due to fever. He had last been paid to December 31, 1863. No further service records have been found due to the company desk and papers being lost before March 1, 1865.

His wife filed a widow's pension on February 8, 1866. A pension for a minor child named Nicholas Smith was filed on November 4, 1867.

No further information about Borders nor the location of his grave has been found.
