George Anderson (b. abt 1846) served as an under cook in Company D, 13th Tennessee Volunteer Cavalry. He is one of twenty-two black men known to have served with the regiment, all of whom served as company cooks.

Anderson was born in Jefferson County, Tennessee.
Civil War service
George Anderson enlisted in Company D on December 1, 1864 in Knoxville, Tennessee for a period of three years. He mustered in on December 6, 1864.
At enlistment he was 18 years old, 5' 4" tall, dark complexion, black eyes, black hair, and a laborer.
According to the muster rolls he was present every month throughout his service. He mustered out with the regiment on September 5, 1865 at Knoxville. According to the records he received no pay from the time of his enlistment, owed $139.91 to the government for his clothing, and was owed $100 bounty.
