George W. Creed (January 25, 1842 - December 24, 1929) served as a sergeant in Company F, 13th Tennessee Volunteer Cavalry.

Personal life

George Creed was born January 25, 1842 in Carter County, Tennessee to William and Rebecca (Heatherly) Creed. He married Nancy Combs (1849-1924) with whom he had at least nine children.

Civil War service

Creed enlisted as a private in Company F on September 21, 1863 in Elizabethton, Tennessee for a period of three years and mustered in October 28, 1863 at Strawberry Plains, Tennessee. He was appointed sergeant October 21, 1863.

He is described as 22 years old, 5' 11" tall, dark complexion, black eyes, dark hair, and by occupation a farmer.

Post-war life

Creed applied for an invalid's pension on December 24, 1869.

He died December 24, 1929 in Santa Rosa, New Mexico and is buried at Cuervo Cemetery in Cuervo, New Mexico.[1]

  1. Creed was living in Texas by 1880 and moved to New Mexico by 1910.
