Jeremiah Pressley (abt 1847 - May 28, 1865) served as a private in Company D, 13th Tennessee Volunteer Cavalry.
Jeremiah Pressley was born about 1847 in Washington County, Tennessee.
Civil War service
Pressley enlisted as a private in Company D on December 7, 1864 in Knoxville, Tennessee for a period of three years. He mustered in March 1, 1865 in Knoxville.
At enlistment he was 18 years old, 5' 4" tall, dark complexion, grey eyes, dark hair, and by occupation a laborer.
Pressley was left sick at Knoxville in March 1865 and died May 28, 1865 of typhoid fever in Asylum General Hospital. According to his death report, he had never been paid, had received $58.63 in clothing, and had received no bounty; he also had no personal effects to report.
Pressley is buried at Knoxville National Cemetery.
- It is possible that his parents are Enoch and Sarah Elizabeth (Salts) Pressley/Presley. Additional research is necessary.
- It is very likely that Elijah Pressley, also of Company D, is his brother.
