Lewis M. Pierce (April 3, 1844 - December 11, 1909) served as a private in Company A, 13th Tennessee Volunteer Cavalry.
Personal life Edit
Lewis M. Pierce was born to Richard R. and Rebecca (Venable) Pierce in Carter County, Tennessee. Pierce married Darthula Adeline Elliott on December 28, 1868, with whom he had least five children.
Civil War service Edit
Pierce enlisted in Company A on September 22, 1863 in Carter County, Tennessee for a period of three years. He mustered in October 28, 1863 at Strawberry Plains, Tennessee.
He is listed as present for duty throughout his entire term of service.
Pierce mustered out September 5, 1865 at Knoxville. He had been paid through August 31, 1864 and owed $27.73 for clothing. He had received a bounty of $25 for his service and was owed $75 bounty.
Pierce applied for an invalid's pension February 25, 1885. His wife applied for a widow's pension on December 24, 1909. Pierce died December 11, 1909 in Carter County and is buried in Ensor Cemetery in Elizabethton, Tennessee.
