Moses R. "Mose" Myers (June 11, 1846 - February 21, 1914) served as a corporal in Company F, 13th Tennessee Volunteer Cavalry.
Personal life[]
Moses Myers was born June 11, 1846 in Carter County, Tennessee to Ellen Myers.[1] He married Amanda Moyers (1841-1910) with whom he had three children.[2]
Civil War service[]
Myers enlisted as a private in Company F on September 21, 1863 in Elizabethton, Tennessee for a period of three years and mustered in October 28, 1863 at Strawberry Plains, Tennessee. He was appointed corporal October 21, 1864.
He is described as 18 years old, 5' 7" tall, fair complexion, gray eyes, light hair, and by occupation a farmer.
Myers is listed as present for duty throughout his term of service for which muster roll records have survived.
Myers mustered out with the regiment on September 5, 1865 at Knoxville. He had last been paid to August 31, 1864, owed $31.21 to the government for clothing, had been paid a $25 bounty, and was owed a $75 bounty.
Post-war life[]
Myers applied for an invalid's pension on February 10, 1880. He died February 21, 1914 in White Pine, Tennessee and is buried there at White Pine Cemetery.
