Richard Anderson (abt 1819 - June 26, 1864) served as private in Company A, 13th Tennessee Volunteer Cavalry.
Richard Anderson was born about 1819 in Sevier County, Tennessee.
Anderson enlisted in Company A on September 22, 1863 in Carter County, Tennessee for a period of three years. He mustered in October 28, 1863 at Strawberry Plains, Tennessee.
At enlistment Anderson is described as 44 years old, 5' 6" tall, fair complexion, blue eyes, light hair, and by occupation a farmer.
Anderson was present for duty until left sick in the General Hospital at Gallatin, Tennessee in March or April 1864. He died June 26, 1864 in Gallatin due to acute diarrhea.
When the regiment mustered out on September 5, 1865 in Knoxville, Tennessee it is noted that he had been paid a $25 bounty and was owed a bounty of $75.
No further information about Anderson nor the location of his grave has been found.
