William Harrison Elliott (December 18, 1840 - July 23, 1923) served as a private in Company F, 13th Tennessee Volunteer Cavalry.
William Elliott was born December 18, 1840 in Carter County, Tennessee to David and Delphia (Edwards) Elliott.
Civil War service
Elliott most likely served in Company C, 59th Tennessee Mounted Infantry in 1861, but the records of this service are incomplete. He changed his allegiance and enlisted in in Company F, 13th Tennessee Volunteer Cavalry on September 12, 1864 in Greeneville, Tennessee for a period of three years and mustered in October 26, 1864 at New Market, Tennessee.
He is described as 24 years old, 5' 6" tall, fair complexion, blue eyes, light hair, and by occupation a farmer.
Elliott is listed as present for duty throughout his term of service, although only one muster roll record for May and June 1865 appears to have survived.
Elliott mustered out with the regiment on September 5, 1865 at Knoxville, but any record of his pay, money owed, and bounty is missing.
He applied for an invalid's pension on June 22, 1882.
Elliott died July 23, 1923 in Carter County and is buried at Elliott/Taylor Family Cemetery in Elizabethton, Tennessee.
